Orange Rosemary Hot Honey Whiskey Fizz

Ingredients

For Hot Honey Syrup:

  • Honey
  • Water
  • Rosemary
  • Dried hot pepper (to taste)
  • Zest of one orange

For Cocktail:

  • 11/2 oz whiskey
  • 1/2 oz Cointreau
  • A dash of bitters
  • Juice of one orange
  • 2 tablespoons of Hot Honey Syrup
  • Ice
  • Sparkling water (for topping)
  • Rosemary sprig (for garnish)
  • Orange slice (for garnish)

Instructions

Making the Hot Honey Syrup:

  1. In a saucepan, combine equal parts of honey and water.
  2. Add a few sprigs of rosemary, dried hot pepper to taste, and the zest of one orange.
  3. Heat the mixture gently, stirring occasionally, until the honey is completely dissolved.
  4. Let the syrup cool, then strain it to remove the solids. Set aside.

Preparing the Cocktail:

  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine 1-1/2 oz of whiskey, 1/2 oz of Cointreau, a dash of bitters, and the juice of one orange.
  2. Add 2 tablespoons of the prepared Hot Honey Syrup.
  3. Fill the shaker with ice and shake the mixture well until chilled.
  4. Strain the cocktail over fresh ice in a glass.
  5. Top the drink with a splash of sparkling water.
  6. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary and a slice of orange.
